Sacraments are vital to the life of the Catholic Church and were instituted by Christ. Each time we receive a sacrament we respond in a deeper way to Jesus’ call to discipleship and to a more personal relationship with him.
The whole liturgical life of the Church revolves around the Eucharistic sacrifice and the sacraments. There are seven sacraments in the Church:
Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Penance, Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders, and Matrimony.

Baptisms are offered for our parishioners following the 10:30 a.m. Mass. All godparents and parents are to attend a one-hour baptism class which is usually on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. Please call the parish office at 504-865-7430 to register for the class or to make arrangements for a baptism.
Children in the second grade will make their First Communion. Those children not in Catholic schools must attend PSR classes in the second grade and will make their First Communion with the Holy Name of Jesus students. Contact [email protected].
The Sacrament of Matrimony is a very special one. The times of our weddings are 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Saturdays.
We do not have weddings on Friday nights during Lent.
